The
eleventh hole, playing 216 yards from the gold tees, is the
longest par-3
on the course. Club selection off the
tee becomes critically important. Three bunkers protecting the green
make
accuracy a premium. An errant shot to the right
could find rough or out-of-bounds. A pull or push to the left
will leave a second shot through the trees or out of a hazard.
The
most intelligent play off the tee shot is to the center of the green.
Allow for a half to a club less to account for the downhill slope to
the green.
Once on the putting surface, the challenge is not over; putts tend to
roll faster than expected on this sloping green, so make that
adjustment
when gauging distance. A birdie
here is a big deal.
