If there is such a thing as a breather
hole at WindStone Golf Course, the fifth hole just may qualify. The
most benign par-4 on the front side, the tee shot can be played nearly
straight away, but longer hitters should favor the left side to cut the
corner off this gentle dogleg left.
For
those playing the Championship tee, the hole plays
much more straightaway, but you will certainly be faced with a much
longer approach shot.
The front of the green is guarded by large bunkers on both sides, and
the green slopes to a valley in the middle. A short iron will more than
likely be utilized for the approach, so get it close. The green is big,
and what you think could be be a great shot from the fairway may well
be 30 feet from the hole once you reach the putting surface.
