This par-5 looks harmless
enough on
the scorecard, at only 479 yards from the tips, but do not be fooled.
This is not an easy hole. The tee shot has OB left
and all along the right side. The hole doglegs to the left and can be
shortened considerably with a drive over the left fairway bunker.
It's a high-risk play, however, with a large pine beyond the bunker
protecting the left
side.
The fairway slopes dramatically uphill to the green. The second shot will most likely be on an uphill lie to a two-tiered green. It takes one or two clubs extra to get to the green. Beware of the hidden bunkers left of the green and two bunkers hidden on the right. Should you find yourself within the clutches of a bunker, good luck in trying to play out of it. It's all uphill or sideways onto the tiered green. The
green
is in full sun most of the day, so it's dry, and it's fast. Avoiding a
three-putt will be a challenge. A par here often feels like a birdie.
